Chook

No pants

Day two of isolation complete, and E’s croup seems to have settled, thankfully.
He did see to it that the morning was chaos though. Went something like this:
8.45am: E disappears upstairs, and there is silence
8.50am: E reappears downstairs, continues playing, while I’m playing phone tag with Infection Control at work, and fending off E’s incessant requests for a hot chocolate.
9.15am: Head upstairs to find the contents of my bag strewn all round floor, including a packet of ibuprofen, with two sheets out of the box, both empty. Could not for the life of me remember if there were any left in the packet prior to this morning. No idea if E has had any.
9.20am: finally manage to speak to Infection Control
9.25am: phone Poisons Information Line, and discover, thankfully, that the amount he would have had, if indeed it was any, is not likely to be a big problem. They do recommend he has more food or milk though to reduce gut irritation.
9.30am: massive hot chocolates all round. Milk intake achieved.
9.35-11am: TV time for kids while I sort school, grocery delivery, two new starters at work who I’m not there to welcome, and a patient of mine who’s in hospital at the moment.
11am: oblige request from both kids for early lunch
11.10am: E finishes lunch, goes to play over near the couch while A and I eat.
11.15am: Find that E has licked almost the entire couch. There is drool everywhere. If we didn’t all have COVID already, we probably do now… why are three year olds such animals??
Anyway, totally winning at parenting this morning. The afternoon was much better. We even did some art.
