to look at History
This little cottage has all the appearance of being uncared for and unloved. It is presently up for sale, and has been for many years.
I can just about remember a couple living there in the 1970's.
You can see from the gable wall that it was smaller, originally, and has been extended to the rear. In fact it cannot go back any further because it is right on the stream bank of a tributary of the Glen Auldyn river.
Until recently I knew nothing of its history. However it was originally constructed as the office of a mining company that embarked (unsuccessfully) on the mining of lead in the 1860's . The mines themselves are, a little further up the glen, and from here the workmen would have received their pay as they walked back down to Ramsey. .
I hope any new owner will make a go of it!
