Female Hazel Flower.

You learn so much with Blip. Two days ago I took this:-https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2934601303952722828 amongst some of the discarded shots I spotted a tiny flash of pink on some branches.  I zoomed in and they appeared to be tiny flowers.  Googled Hazel and found this:-  Hazel is monoecious, both male and female flowers are found on the same tree.  Hazel flowers must be pollinated by pollen from other hazel trees. The yellow male catkins appear before the leaves and hang in clusters from mid-February. Female flowers are tiny and bud-like with red styles.
Extra shows scale - they are tiny!
Ginny came across a fox curled up asleep in the early morning sun on one allotment and then a short while after, propped up against one of the water troughs, a wood pigeon so sound asleep that it only woke up when Ginny pushed her nose into its feathers!  I thought it must be dead or injured but obviously a cold, wet dog nose ruffling through its plumage gave it a most rude awakening and it flew off in a terrible flap.  Luckily Ginny didn't damage it - not sure she knew what to do momentarily.
Completely different day from yesterday - still a lively wind but with no cold N.E. edge to it.
