Grandma, mums & baby daughters!

Guinea Pigs not humans! These belong to our son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, though I'm pretty sure who does the work! The two 'mums' were bought earlier this year and unknown to the family came already pregnant! So it was a big surprise when one had a couple of babies one day, and the other produced one baby a few days later.
The little ones are growing rapidly and are actually the first out of the hutch into the run when the door is opened in the mornings. According to our daughter when the babies were born it looked as though the mums were most surprised and didn't really know what had happened.

How do we react when we get surprised by events? Do we just take it in our stride and carry on or do we adjust our priorities accordingly?
