Happy Biddies Day . St. Brigid or Imbolc marks the beginning of spring and traditional Gaelic festivities. She is also Irelands matron saint and held in high regard . This time next year Ireland will have a new bank holiday on 1st Feb which is halfway between winter splice and spring equinox . I just saw an article on RTE (Irish )news so feel very up to date!
In previous years I’ve joined in with the traditional making of a cross made with grasses or rushes, but I missed the meet up as I was busy with postnatal visits…. getting piddled on by a new baby while weighing him !! Somehow baby wee is fine !
These catkins mark the welcome shift to spring
