Harbour Seal
I went over to Shapinsay now that the stormy weather has passed. Tide was high at The Ouse so no feeding waders, but distant flocks of curlews, lapwings, oystercatchers etc. At RSPB Mill Sand there were hundreds of wigeon, some teal, mallard, grey heron etc. At Loch of Vasa there were goldeneye and whooper swans.
The tide had dropped when I got back to the ferry slip. The usual seals on the rocks nearby. I liked this one- it looks as if modelled in pink marble. The contented expression is pleasing too. The extra shows just how relaxed seals can be in spite of a lack of fancy mattresses.
