This was pretty much the only bird photo I got during my three night spur of the moment stay in Madera Canyon. It was around this time that I realized not having the lens hood for my 300mm lens was going to be a problem. You should be able to see some sun flare across this Mexican Jay's chest.  It was just as well.  I'll be back up there soon.  Since my sudden escape to the mountains was a result of an upsetting and aggravating situation created by people who don't know me, I was happy to get the R & R that comes with immersing myself in nature.
