Why are pirates called pirates?

Because they aaaarrrrgggghhhh!

One class went to Weston Park to have workshops and see the Egyptian stuff, another class stayed at school being normal.

 I was asked by the third class teacher if I wanted to dress up as a pirate as they were doing a pirate day.  I drove to school in a full pirate costume.  When she arrived, she was in a stripy top and looked normal.  Where is your costume I cried?  Oh, I’m putting it on after break, we are only doing one lesson on pirates!!!  I pointed out (to much hilarity) that perhaps that tiny weeny bit of information could have been passed on?!

Nothing like doing virtual headteacher meetings as a full on moustachioed pirate!
