A red kite prowling above the fields

I stood watching the fields again today hoping to see hares or birds, but they weren't showing themselves. I saw a red kite in the distance, above and just beyond a copse of trees, circling as if on the look out for some animal below. It disappeared down the combe and I thought it had flown away. 

About five minutes later it reappeared flying over the far side of a field close to where I was standing. It headed towards me and briefly circled before heading away again in a northerly direction, where it circled above a different copse.
