Wild Wednesday ....

... Hedgehog Groundhog Day.

To observe Groundhog Day today I looked around the house for a stuffed groundhog ... but all I could find was this hedgehog.  It'll work.

But later on when I was reading the newspaper I came across an article regarding the origin of Groundhog day and I was surprised to read the following: "Groundhog Day has its roots in Germany where a hedgehog decided if winter would continue. If, according to German lore, the hedgehog saw his shadow on Candlemas Day there would be a 'second winter' or 6 more weeks of bad weather." 

So I guess using a hedgehog worked out just fine!
