The Duke's Horse's Bum

I think I've got those apostrophes right (the bum belonging to the horse which in turn belongs to the Duke?!)  mum will tell me!

The weather has been pretty naff for our week off, so we decided to brave toun today and go see some of the Glasgow sights near the subway, which we could dive on and head home if the weather got really unpleasant.  Did a bit of shopping and found my new favourite place in the form of Tantrum donuts (I had a lemon and poppyseed, P had a pistachio creme brulee).

Had a wee wander round GOMA, usual mix of modern art most of which was trying too hard but a couple of really interesting exhibits.  One was some pieces of when Gorbals underwent some serious modernisation and an artist was comissioned to do some public artworks.  Instead of doing big artworks in the street, she made indiviudal ornaments for every house affected in the area.  Some had been donated to the museum.  They looks like a really electic bunch of artworks and my favourite was the guinea pig.  The other hard-hitting art was done by children who had been immigrants and aslyum seekers.  One was a beautiful picture of a girl in a boat crying on a sea of paperwork.

The rest of the day we wandered to the West End just generally exploring that bit of the city.  It's a pretty cool city centre and if you get on a hilly bit there's views out to the Campsies which are currently covered in snow which I appreciated.

Blip today is on the Duke of Wellington statue outside GOMA, unfortunatley not sporting his traditional headgear today.  However, I did appreciate the sticker on the horse's rear.
