Hawthorn Bug
BEST VIEWED LARGE
I struck lucky today. As I came back home from walking Diesel I found a wonderful little Hawthorn bug on my gate post. I photographed a couple of these bugs last year but unfortunately they were dying bugs and I felt awful trying to photograph them like that. However today this little creature was alive an well. ....so I scooped him up into a glass and took him into my light tent.
He did a bit of running around and modelling for me. It was very difficult to capture him as just as I focused on his eyes he decided he wanted to move elsewhere!
So yes a good deal of shots were taken. I tried firstly with just the macro 105mm lens but then wanted to get in really close and put the Raynox 250 on to bring out his fantastic colours and detail. They really are gorgeous colours. You only really see them in their glory when they are this close.
The macro world is wonderful.
It is my favourite subject in photography I think.
I was hoping to be able to focus stack but he was having none of this standing still lark!
But although I liked a lot of the shots taken today..this is the ultimate one.
