Seligenstadt
Today our oldest son M. and I hiked close to the river Main, a round tour between Zellhausen and Seligenstadt. Zellhausen is not that important, but Seligenstadt is. A beautiful city, one of Germany's oldest towns and already of great importance in Carolingian times. If you are in the neighbourhood you should visit it. On the extra you see the Basilika St. Marcellinus und Petrus, also known as Einhard-Basilika, over 900 years old. Adjacent to it is a beautiful abbey garden, baroque, with many old fruit trees and herbs.
The main shows the "Wasserburg" (moated castle) south of Seligenstadt. The original building must have been there around 1266 already. A nice place to include in your visit. (By the way, the water around the castle is clear enough for nutrias, we saw one swimming across the pond.)
