If Mabel gets there first she snaffles it to show Ralph she can, and then drops it for him to return to the human playmate. There is usually a bit of deception and swapping going on between the two puppies as there are clear favourite toys. Of course none of the toys are attractive to the human playmate, they are doggy and often a bit soggy!
