Margaret Tatcher has died

MT has died. Symbolic in away because I heard of the news in Baku. Baku today is Dubai of far, far east of Europe, territory between Europe and Asia. Rich, opulent, full of Bentleys, Ferraris, expensive boutiques along newly build promenade on Caspian See. Without her Baku would (maybe) have remained backwater of Soviet Union.
Photo I have taken is of a Soviet World War II hero (couldn't get the name as Azeri alphabet is bit of mystery for me) who fought fascists in Yugoslavia and Italy (thus additional link ) which in a way represent modern Azerbaijan mixture of unfettered capitalism and respect of the past, same as MT was always aware of history.
