Hellebores

I hadn't noticed that the hellebores were coming out.  These two are in a spot that was shaded until I moved some bushes - but they seem to be coping with the new full sun conditions.

Some gardening. The advantage of leaving your garden messy for wildlife in the winter is that you don't have so much work to do in November.  The disadvantage is picking the right time to clear in spring - not so early that the plants will get caught by frost once their blanket of dead foliage is removed, but not so late that clearing is made harder by new shoots coming up.  Fingers crossed next week's anticipated frosts don't come to much.
