I, Yi Yi Yi Yi....

..I Like You Very Much. ...

I, Yi Yi Yi Yi ...I Think You're Grand...you cute little Carmen Miranda Tea Cosy.....you with the fruit on top....

BUT - I have no idea if I will ever use you! I have my doubts that you are a very practical tea cosy... Not being confident about actually pouring tea whilst you are so top heavy, I have only temporarily basted your lovely fruit hat on..and the feathers? Well, ...they are rather precariously perched in there, not even basted on yet...In some respects you could still be considered a work in progress.., but for the sake of my sanity, I am moving on now to other projects needing my attention...and pronouncing you no longer an "unfinished project".

As much as I think you are adorable, there were times when my frustration overwhelmed my admiration...the lemon, lime and orange almost became cat toys...I don't even remember how many times I unraveled those twisty things that don't even vaguely resemble grapes...but I did get a chance to work on my rusty crochet skills, and I also  learned some very useful but closely guarded international crochet secrets, like the fact that stitches have different names in different countries! And, I managed to avoid a lot of household tasks  by prioritizing you over things like laundry, vacuuming and even cooking!

So it has been an adventure, Carmen...but not one I will rush to relive. I may make another tea cosy but it will be one that would pose no danger to my good china tea sets...ones with nothing to topple off whilst pouring tea...

So, for now, Ms. Miranda, you will be relegated to display object and will reside on a shelf, adding a bit of colour and funkiness to my living room.
