Walking at Miami Whitewater Forest
Monday January 31
The temperatures were milder today, and under sunny skies we knew many of the wooded trails would be really muddy, so we decided to head over to Miami Whitewater and walk some of the Shaker Trace trail, a paved, multi purpose trail. The trail was clear in parts, in the sunshine, but still snowy in the shade. We had a great walk, then as we were returning to the car, we saw a guy with a big lens taking photographs, and stopped to ask him what he had seen. During our conversation, he mentioned he’d seen several Northern shovelers in a small area of open water over the other side of the car park, so we followed his directions, and happily they were still there - top two left photos of my collage - male and female.
