Hello ducky! #EdSciFest
Today we were on assignment for Edinburgh Spotlight at the National Mining Museum at Newtongrange to review the "Energy Lab" workshop. It took place inside a building which was once at the University of Edinburgh and was where Prof Stephen Salter and his team did experiments to develop wave technology.
Once, in the olden days when I was at Uni, studying "Advanced Strategic and Operations Planning", Prof Salter came to talk to us and show us demonstrations of his ducks. So it was exciting to see other developments which are still being worked on to this very day. One day, this shed gift to the National Mining Museum will be looked upon with the same reverence as having been given Einstein's workshop (said our guide!).
In the meantime, our young correspondent enjoyed his trip to the Mining Museum too, and was very excited to go to the coalface, whereas I was quite worried as I've never really wanted to go down a mine. It's well worth the visit though and much more going on there too.
