In a former life the supporting frame for this fruit cage was a polytunnel! The wire netting is to deter rabbits...

However I have been blessed with the gift of a considerable quantity of a very lightweight compost, which originated from a moss covered lawn. 

It is really good at covering the ground and weeding consists of putting on gloves and giving it some movement.  It could not be easier!

Oh and we do occasionally now get the odd wallaby in the garden. They are well on the way to becoming established!
