Helmsley Castle

It was a gorgeous sunny day at Helmsley. We went with the friends we were staying with and met up with other friends there. We all explored Helmsley Castle, which was great and really interesting. The castle had been under seige during the English Civil War and the tower in this photo got blown apart. It must've been quite something at the time as it was a rather thick and solid structure.
Afterwards we all went for a pub lunch. You forget that you can go for a pub lunch with kids in England as it's not a common thing really back home in Scotland.
It was great to catch up with everyone and lovely to see their little ones who were so cute and really funny. I just wish we could meet up with them more often.
