February 2nd Saturday Strollers

Nearly the '2nd Saturday' in February and for this month's walk we are heading out to the very Eastern-edge of the Pentlands ...

... some outline detail below:

- meet for 10am, at the 'Dreghorn Link' end, of Swanston Muir
- on Saturday 12th February 2022

- Swanston Muir is a street just along from the Hunters Tryst, 'Morrisons Superstore'
- you should be able to see all of this via the following Google Map link: https://tinyurl.com/ms8eesk9

- if you do come by car; there are no parking restrictions on Swanston Muir
- Lothian Buses no's 5 and 27 both go to the Morrisons Superstore; you should be able to see the 'terminus-end' bus stop, via that map link, and it's then just a very short walk through to Swanston Muir ;-)
- we'll start the walk at 10am

- from Swanston Muir, there is a short roadside walk (there is a footpath!) to access the Eastern-edge of the Pentlands
- we'll then do the classic "Northern Skyline" of the three Pentlands Hills, which form the backdrop to Edinburgh: 'Capelaw' first ; then 'Allermuir' ; then finally 'Caerketton'

- we'll subsequently drop back down towards old Swanston Village, skirting the local golf course, before returning to our start point on Swanston Muir

- that will all be around 6-7 miles in total
- should take us about 3-4 hours to complete (including a lunch stop on-route)
- so; please do bring along some snacks/packed-lunch etc.

I've done this walk several times before and it really is a pleasant route :-)
