Mount Grace Priory in North Yorkshire
Mount Grace was a Carthusian monastery, founded in the fourteenth century. The monks lived a solitary life in single cells, each with his own spaces for work and prayer, his garden patch for growing vegetables and herbs and an L shaped hatch for meals to be provided without contact. They could have managed Covid without missing a beat.
Why Mount Grace today? Well, it’s MountGrace’s birthday. Fittingly, she took the photo, in May 2014. Happy birthday MG.
