Layered Deliciousness

Back in Thailand!

The students found a recipe for a crepe cake with whipped cream layers. They got started however, they whipped the cream before they needed to use it, and it started melting. (Today's high is 100*F/38*C...no surprise that it started melting!) So they put it in the refrigerator. When the time came to layer the cake, they took out the soupy cream and started whipping it again. After a couple of minutes, someone called out, "Ummm...I don't think it's working!"

They had successfully made butter. Just like I made with a 2nd grade class I taught years ago.

The show will go on! We drained off the liquid, added a bit of powdered sugar to the "butter," and spread it between the layers. Add a drizzle of chocolate and the cake was ready to be served!
