News on the street

After decades as a derelict shop unit, a new sandwich / pastry shop has opened at the foot of our tenement block. Need to get in there and sample the cakes. The extra was the news I just missed - down at the bottom of the street there was a ceremony on the beach to mark the completion of a project to building a skiff that has been done by pupils at Castlebrae Community High School up in Craigmillar. A four year project to build a boat, apparently marked with a ceremony on the beach with speeches from politicans and some sort of prosecco splashing (don't think they break bottles onto ships hulls these days, especially not on a popular beach) which I just missed. Deputy First Minister John Swinney was still being interviewed by the skiff as everyone else headed back up the beach.
