Calçots

Don't mention my step count today. I had a day mostly at my desk, apart from a wee walk out late morning and another at 9.30pm! I got caught up in a tidying up job in the moodle platform of the centre I've been working with and it took a while. It's an ongoing process, but we're trying to get it a bit more user friendly for the next course and trainees.

Bb's has had a much more interesting and different day, which I'm sure he'll mention on blip. He's out to dinner right now with visiting colleagues. That's different enough!

Today is the first day of masks not being obligatory in outside places here in Spain. Mind you, on my two little walks in the barrio, I didn't notice much difference and many folk were still wearing them.

My blip is of calçots in a fruit and veg shop on Calle Nicaragua. It's the season. They're not the kind of thing you'd normally have at home though really, as they're usually cooked on a barbecue till black and served with a romesco sauce. You eat them with your hands, holding the calçots up in the air, after dipping them in the sauce. Some restaurants provide bibs as you get very dirty! They're delicious! They're just the starter of a traditional calçotada and served with embutits (cold cuts) and toasted pan con tomate. Then comes the meat, barbecued and lots of it, all different kinds. The first time Bb and I went on one, we were full after the calçots and our eyes nearly popped out of our heads when we saw the meat coming out!!  All this talk of one has put me in the mood! There are some places up the top of Barcelona, open air, with views. We'll see. Maybe this weekend.
