Iron Lady negotiated Hong Kong's return to China in 1997. Britain had ruled Hong Kong for more than 100 years, but it did not give it democracy even when it was planning to hand it over to China. Under today's 'one country, two systems' policy the HK government is economically liberal, but still lacks universal suffrage, China is getting more and more involved until it will eventually take full charge in 2047 and people here are worried...
