The Day the World Came to Town

I started "reading" this book yesterday--I thought I was borrowing an ebook, but it turned out to be an audio book.   I'm not sure if I like listening to a book instead of reading, but this is a good book.
It tells the true story of 9/11, when US air space was closed and dozens of flights already in the air had to be diverted,  many to Canada.  This is the story of Gander, Newfoundland, a small town that took in about 40,000 stranded passengers for 3 days. The town had few services in place, but the townspeople rallied their resources and provided food and housing and friendship.
Reading about this kind of display of human care gives me hope for the world we live in.
