Visiting

Had a better night’s sleep and a bit of a lie in reading the papers etc (and getting Wordle in 3!), then enjoyed a tasty bacon sandwich with T before I headed down to see the wee ones. Lovely chat over coffee and French patisserie with Mt&H catching up on their news about work, recent Covid, broken patio doors and garage clearing. Took AR and Mx to a local park with their scooters and walked all round the paths, with combination of moans and laughs and showing off scooter tricks and fast moves, eating gingerbread men and squabbling over where to sit with the hot chocolate. Typical morning with small children! Was lovely and sunny and not too cold, and apart from the mad traffic there and back it was a nice way to spend the morning. On the way home AR was explaining about how her teeth are starting to get wobbly, and how she’s cross Mx gets to stay at home to play when she has to go to school ALL the time, and there is just too much learning to do! (I think she’s tired…thank goodness it’s half term this week!) She says she likes maths but has to do too much spellings work before she can get on with ‘doing maths games with Daddy’. She does love being able to read fluently now though, and Mx asks her to read to him which she’s pretty proud of being able to do. He was his usual loud and chatter box self….laughing and flying around and saying he’ll start to learn to read soo . I asked him about what he did at nursery and he said ‘I just stand still like this and don’t do anything’…..I doubt that!
Left them and got back on the motorway to drive north but an accident ahead meant it took me nearly 2 hours rather than 45 mins to get to P’s. He seemed on good form although said he wasn’t too well yesterday. I’d taken some primulas to brighten his garden so planted them and then went to the pet shop to pick up a load of food for Diesel, and chatted a bit about all the things he feels he has to do and when/whether he should see the doctor. Seemed generally on quite good form though.
It was late in the day before I got to K’s but we had a good chat over drinks and nibbles before meeting T, Kt and Kt’s dad for an Italian dinner. Lots of chat about travel, house renovations, dogs and kids.over the drinks and pasta…a fun evening
