Running a bit behind with my Blips again - always seems to happen towards the end of the week!

A long phone call and a good catch-up with friends on Friday morning was followed by a wander along the Canal in the afternoon.

At first it didn't seem as if there was much happening - few people around and not a lot of birdlife, on the water at any rate. It had obviously been a cold night before as there were still patches of ice on the water and many places where it hadn't fully thawed. However, as I reached Haggs and Allandale there was much more aquatic action - even our resident cormorant was keeping a beady eye on things.

I decided to make this goosander pair my Blip for today. Quite a few of them swimming around near Lock 18 at Allandale.
