A good sign

This sign is on the side of the house where I had been invited for tea and cake with 2 friends this afternoon.  They have the most amazing collection of antiquities and eclectic items.  In their last house every corner was filled so I was excited to see how this new house would be. The house used to belong to an old school friend of mine and was a blank canvas - all painted white and appeared very spacious. Just as expected every wall and corner was now filled with amazing things.  They are both so talented in many ways and fascinating to listen to.  I had said I would have tea, but not to offer cake as I only have to look at food to gain weight!  However, tea was served in pretty China cups and then sandwiches and cakes were produced.  Futile to resist, especially when they had got one of my very favourite cakes - carrot cake! I prefer savoury items and only really like carrot cake and coffee cake. Of course I gave in and had a tiny piece.  They are so good at picking up on things people say and remembering them.  I was there a few hours, but time felt to have gone by very quickly, and I always talk too much!  Only on the way home did I realised that I’d never asked the many questions I’d had about their wonderful collections!  Hopefully there will be another chance to do that.  A lovely way to spend a rainy cold afternoon in the warmth of their company.
