Hills
Although Arthur's Seat grabs the headlines, there are other hills in Edinburgh. Today, after a familiar user's email flagged up an issue, I went for a walk up Blackford Hill to think through the details, taking this route down. On the skyline are East and West Craiglockhart Hills that, together, count as one of Edinburgh's "Seven Hills". They aren't high but, like the others, steep and rocky in places. Most of Edinburgh's hills are the remains of volcanic cores, and some (like Castle Rock) have "tails" created when the ice sheets retreated east to the sea that define city features such as the Royal Mile.
