Golden rose
A busy day today with two visits to the dentist, hygienist and routine check, a supermarket delivery and an afternoon bookclub meeting. In between these I decided to take a macro shot of the fading rose petals which look rather golden as they age.
A grey wet day with the timing of the events working well. I had forgotten that the bookclub meeting was on the same day as the dentist but the meeting was being held at a house just opposite the dentist. I arrived just on time. We had an enjoyable discussion of Jeanine Cummins novel American Dirt. It was set at an incredible pace and most of us couldn't put it down. It raised many issues concerning prejudices, migrants, injustice. Very informative and well written. Her book also raised controversy when it was published, mainly because she isn't Mexican or an immigrant. There is a very informative interview she gave online which speaks of why it took her so long to write, her hesitation to publish and her own family background and history. A great book.
