Thesaurus

I used this a lot at one time. My daughter used to play hangman on it too. 
As you can see the LED display is not working and has missing elements.  I want to try and fix it but I am unsure what to try.
I have consulted Google and suggestions are that maybe heating the display up might work. As it doesn't work now I have nothing to lose by having a go.
