3 out of 7

Here are 3 out of the 7 Kookaburras that visited us for breakfast this morning. Most native birds are very territorial and we can only assume it was 1 extended family with their offspring from several years. Usually we only have visits from a family of 3.

Kookaburras are terrestrial tree kingfishers, native to Australia and New Guinea and famous for their loud distinctive laughing call. They are quite solid birds and  grow to between 28 and 47 cm (11 and 19 in) in length, and weigh around 300 g (11 oz). They have short stubby legs that are no good for walking.

In Paladian's blip today you will probably see 6 or 7 of them.
