Downy Woodpecker

I went up to visit my neighbor Jackie this afternoon and to take pictures of her gorgeous flowers. After getting some pretty cool pictures, this Downy Woodpecker landed about 25 feet away from where we were talking. I slowly walked up and around to the sunnier side of the tree and stopped about 4 feet from the bird.

I was thankful that Mr Downy let me get so close because I had the short lens on and really wouldn't have been able to get much detail further back. Click here for a closer look.
