Mixed Up Reflections

Lost for a blip as usual, having vented my anger yesterday at the evil 'T'. So, a day of mixed up reflections today. Why is it that sometimes you can have all the ideas, do a lot of the work, but someone else takes all the credit? It must be base human nature, survival instincts, or just pure competitive programming.

This picture is a little bit of a 'melange'. A kind of self portrait perhaps? or a random arrangement of interesting artefacts. The viewer can interpret and decide. Who gets the credit for this? the photographer who had the inspiration, or the camera that delivers the technical result. Or, is it an equal partnership, a kind of sociomaterial phenomenon, an entanglement of the human agent and the machine.

Work is like that. We should work more in teams, an entanglement of ideas, skills, competencies, resources. If someone takes undue credit for what is a complex interplay of shared effort, then this destroys the team and creates a culture of mistrust. Unfortunately we see this all the time.

Reflections are interesting....
