Eunice

How quickly the news focus changed today, as Eunice roared past and set off for London. In the Red Alert West Country we were largely saved by the wind direction, and even the low lying homes along the Severn mostly escaped.

I couldn't resist doing the circular walk in the thick of it; the air was sucked out of my lungs as I rounded the top of the hill, and at one point I think the rain was so horizontal it was going back up... A few slates were blown off some of the cottage roofs and a couple of small hedgerow trees succumbed.

I hope you were all ok. Thankfully no-one was sat on Merv's Bench, and potentially we now have an available space for one of the Jubilee Oaks we've got sat waiting in pots for new celebratory homes.
