Another brick in the wall, maybe not!
I did wonder what I was going to blip today, but I certainly didn't expect to be taking a photo of our front wall blown over by Eunice. The day started off well enough, and I got Doris Dyson out to do her usual clean around. J went out to do an inspection and discovered the wall had blown down and onto the pavement outside. It was much too windy at this stage to go and clean it up. A few minutes later, our 82 year old neighbour across the road, came to ask us if we knew what had happened. He said he would get his coat and come and give J a hand to get the bricks in. Our daughter & son-in-law arrived at this point to give a hand as well. I went to get my coat, and I saw a red van parked outside our house. J shouted for me to come around, and be introduced to a young man (the owner of said van) The man immediately started helping us with the bricks, and told us he couldn't drive past without stopping to help. It turns out he works for a major housebuilder and will call around on Sunday to give us a quote on repairing the wall. I did try phoning out insurers, but it was the usual answer phone reply of, we are experiencing a larger than average number of phone calls due to the storms. I gave up, and we have decided to wait until Sunday and see what happens. Although it was a bit of a shock, I am very grateful it wasn't the house that was damaged.
