The Calm Before the Storm

It was another early start for us all as we were supposed to be out of the house by 9am. We eventually managed to pack the cars and leave by around 9.30 and stopped briefly down by the shore of Lake Windermere to take some photos. Before we'd gone too far, Storm Eunice hit us, the heavy rain started  and conditions on the road became pretty treacherous. Alfie was very shaken up after hitting a patch of sleet just outside Kendal and nearly losing control of his car. We pulled over at the next services for a coffee. At this point, I wasn't sure whether we should continue but the rain seemed to ease off a little bit so we carried on, taking it all very slowly and carefully. We did the journey in about 6 hours which wasn't too bad considering the conditions.
I picked up the dogs and now we're waiting for D to go and pick up a curry.
