Roadmap Out Of Lockdown Step 4 (Take 2) - Day 22

An Amaryllis for Flower Friday

My backlit Amaryllis conveys no idea of the weather that was raging outside today (I've added our Red Weather Warning notification in extras, the only way I could come up with to record this very rare event, and the strength of the wind). Storm Eunice rolled into town a bit later than expected this morning, but around 8am the wind really started to pick up and it's still blowing a hoolie out there, though thankfully it has calmed down a little. Along with the wind we've had all sorts of weather, sunshine, rain and even hail. Winds in our area reached over 70mph, hundreds of trees came down, thousands are still without power, all schools were closed, bus and train services were all cancelled, a church in Wells even lost its steeple. We were lucky, we only lost one fence panel and a neighbour tells me something came down off our roof, but I haven't ventured out to check what yet. Nationally, winds reached 122mph on the Isle of Wight, the strongest wind speed ever recorded in England, and very sadly there have been three fatalities.

So definitely a day to hunker down indoors, continue the IT battle and the Winter Olympics viewing, a very exciting curling semi-final today. GB has finally secured medals, we're guaranteed at least a Silver in both the Men's and Women's Curling, maybe even a gold! Alarm set for 7am tomorrow for the Men's final.

Take care, stay safe and well...
