A Visit From Eunice

Our friends Tony & Rosie are visiting their son and his family in Los Angeles so when we had a phone call from their neighbours at lunch time to say their garden fence had been blown down, we thought we'd better head over to inspect the damage.

We waited until the wind had died down a bit but had to dodge a few fallen trees during the two mile drive to their place. This was the extent of the damage to their place thankfully.

We spoke to them on WhatsApp this afternoon (what would we have done in the days before digital technology?) and within about 30 minutes they had been able to contact another friend of ours, who is a one man building business, to come and start replacing it tomorrow.

It was all much more exciting than our morning of housework- one handed light dusting in Tess's case anything requiring more effort in mine.

We're now in the throes of a power cut!
