Library

Paid a visit to the library tonight, Elgin has a great library, with a gallery , cafe and a great IT and reference section. Libraries are at risk , vulnerable because of financial restrictions. We are seeing and living in a changing society where there is a different perception of priority, a conscious attack and loss of society. Living in a Glasgow housing scheme, my future could have been one of crime, violence and addiction. The local library was my lighthouse , my gateway to another world and a route out to another life. I wonder how many other lives may be affected for the worst as we destroy communities and their assets. The result of a recession created by incompetence and greed. They say one should not speak ill of the dead , but Thatcher was central and very much to blame for this perverse culture of greed that looks after those who have at the expense of those who have not.That is what she should be remembered for. I refuse to celebrate her passing, that would be crass, but we should not be fooled by the attempts to photoshop her image .
