March 31st 1938

I had a very interesting morning. Many, many years ago my father made a large box- covered and lined. I think it was made as a " glory box" for my mum who I think he had just met. Today I am recovering it so it can be used as a toy box. Inside it was lined,under the lining was newspaper. This morning I removed the paper- dated 31 march 1938. What an amazing snapshot of an era long gone. Before the war- new car 300pounds !! There was also a list of who was staying in hotels around the city.....so much for privacy!! I'm not sure what to do with it, I might contact " The Press", they may like it back.
