Auchinbaird
Well, our Ramblers walk on Wednesday passed without incident and the expected storm held off until we were done and safely home. Result!
I decided to change the original route to avoid one particular muddy path but there were others that ensured we still got our fair share of glaur. And there were a few heavy showers of rain along the way, but not the constant rain that I half expected when we set out.
One of our little planned diversions along the way was to visit the Auchinbaird Windmill (pictured), the ruins of an 18th century grain mill. It's also believed that the windmill operated a pump to drain water from local coal mines. The windmill later became a doocot (dovecote) but has been abandoned for some time.
