Three more sleeps

Ellie has had a problem with her left leg on and off for about a year (I guess).  It's gotten progressively worse and appeared to be arthritis BUT over the last month or two we've tried different medication and eventually x-rays and found that she has something amiss with her cruciate ligament.

So, we've bitten the bullet and she's having an operation in... three more sleeps (Wednesday).

We had no idea of the impact this will have on our lives.  She will have an "Elizabethan collar" on for a couple of weeks (we think) and will basically be in a cage for a couple of weeks.  We bought the cage today (got lucky as we got the last one from our local Kmart today at about half the price of the identical looking pet store one) and put her day bed in there to get her used to it.  We even closed the doors for a bit and she did not seem perturbed.

A got a ramp (for the back of the car) a week or so ago which took me a few days to train her to use it but we got there.  When we got it we had no idea how important it would be (getting down a couple of stairs out the back for going to the toilet).

We got pet insurance a few months after we got her and have considered cancelling it for years but did not - no idea if they're going to pay for it, apparently pet insurance is notorious in Australia for trying to dodge paying up.

Here we go!...
