Just enough time this afternoon for a wander down to the Canal and back. About five minutes after I left the house the heavens opened and there was a driving, almost-horizontal sweep of hail and sleet from the west. Undaunted, I continued, only to find that the farm track was flooded at several parts and the grass verges were pretty sodden too.

The level of water in the Canal was really high and the fields either side of the farm track were also under water. It was that kind of day and I was glad to change into dry clothes when I got home only about 40 minutes after leaving in the first place.
