Swanston village...

...is just outside Edinburgh, to the south, at the foot of the Pentland Hills. These cottages were renovated in the 1950s to 1960s by the Council and are now in a conservation area and are sought-after homes. Robert Louis Stevenson lived nearby, but his home was considerably grander than these cottages. I was here with some friends on a local walk, taking in the Hermitage of Braid, the Braid Hills and the Braid Burn Valley Park en route to Swanston and Hillend, where we got the bus back to the starting point .
