Au Revoir (I Hope)

Walked into town this morning, taking photos for MonoMonday, and then surprised by a huge racket overhead as I approached the castle. Looked up... hundreds and hundreds of cranes gathering overhead (more, harder to see ones just above the lamp). A woman came out of her house asking what was happening...

Eventually, groups formed into V's and flew off north... to Sweden perhaps.

Met Vizinho on the way home; he was quite perturbed by it, mainly that it was over Mourão, I think, but he thought it was too early, that it was because there's not enough to eat because of the lack of rain. The whole country of Portugal is in either severe or extreme drought and no prediction of rain anytime soon.

Gratefuls:
- seeing the cranes; sobering to think that most folk saw nothing in spite of the huge noise and numbers, we live so disconnected from Creation around us
- deciding to enjoy the sight and the sunshine in the moment (even if they do both bode ill)
- a long chat with Steph on the main square, just back from France, and very glad to be back

(The photo looks very fuzzy on my Blip, wondering if there's a problem?)
