Childe of Hale

Here lyeth the bodie of John Middleton the Childe. Nine feet three. Borne 1578, dyede 1632

The old wooden statue of the Childe of Hale was taken down a couple of years ago because it had rotted so much it was considered to be unsafe. I'd heard that a new bronze version had been erected nearby, but when I went to have a look this afternoon, it was still under wraps. Apparently it's due to be ceremonially handed over to the people of Hale tomorrow. I'll go and have a look when I get the chance, but that will have to wait a few days.
